Frankenstein Jr., also referred to simply as Frankie or Junior, is a giant robot and the titular hero of the Frankenstein Jr. animated television segments. He is a sentient creation of boy scientist Buzz Conroy, and is tasked to prevent disasters caused by outlandish villains. He is voiced by Ted Cassidy.

Character description

Frankenstein Jr. is a humanoid robot with a light blue body and a yellow nose. He has stitching on both his wrists and head, a bald scalp, and an attenna on top of his head. He is dressed in green and purple superhero suit, with yellow jet-propelled boots, a cape and a black domino mask. His topwear has rugged sleeves and a triangular, orange insignia with a big "F" in the middle.

A creation of boy scientist Buzz Conroy, Frankenstein Jr. resides on a remote laboratory in Civic City, which is run by Buzz's father, Professor Conroy. When the city is plauged by villains, Frankie is called upon by the use of Buzz's radar ring. He posseses a number of powers via commands from Buzz, including (but not limited to) super strength and the ability to fly with his boots.

Development

When the Frankenstien Jr. series began its development, the title character was originally going to be a robot named Uggle Dubbly, and would have been created by a scientist named Dr. Frankenstein Jr. At the last minute, the robot was renamed to Frankenstein Jr., while the adult scientist was removed in favor of a kid controlling him.

Frankenstien Jr. is loosely based on the character of Frankenstien's monster, from the 1818 Mary Shelly novel Frankenstein. He also bears a resemblance to Boris Karloff's portrayal of the monster in the 1931 Universal film of the same name.

Behind the scenes
