• The opening intro gag is of Tubb's hot dog shooting out of its bun as he attempts to eat it, which causes all the buildings to topple down.
• Peter has a piece of merchandise from an anime called I Fell Into a Coma, and Woke Up as a Shoe, and Now I'm a Basketball Player For the Cosmic Space Prince. This is a parody of isekai anime, which often involves being reincarnated into inanimate objects. The overly long title is also a reference to the excessively long titles of various anime like Ore no Imōto ga Konna ni Kawaii Wake ga Nai, roughly translated to "My Little Sister Can't Be This Cute" and Watashi ga Motenai no wa Dou Kangaetemo Omaera ga Warui!, translated to "No Matter How I Look at It, It's You Guys' Fault I'm Not Popular!".
• The Hong Kong Phooey anime takes place during a "tournament arc," which is a parody of tournament arcs in anime such as the Dark Tournament in Yu Yu Hakusho.
