History

Taking a CHOMP Out of Burger King

Have a nice day!

Reporter Joe Elliott greets Officers Joe Frick and Courtney, who had just sat outside for a meal at a restaurant in the Van Nuys area.[2]

Drive by Snacking

Burger King as Bronto King.

Shaggy and Scooby-Doo take The Mystery Machine out to a drive-thru and order 400 Kids Club meals. The guy serving hands them a giant bag. As they happily drive away, Scooby thanks him.

Mystery Incorporated are invited as VIPs to the grand opening of the Coolsonian Criminology Museum, arriving in a Mystery Machine-themed limo. After getting out of the limo, Scooby accidentally spills a cup of milkshake on the chauffeur. Later, when the Mystery Machine parks outside Wickles Manor, a spooked-out Shaggy complains about wanting to investigate a Burger King, instead. These scenes were altered for international viewings, which replaced the domestic version with KFC.[3]

Home of the Brontoburger

Before getting married, Wilma and Betty worked as waitresses at Bronto Burger.[1]

Behind the scenes

  • The 1996 commercial led to Casey Kasem quitting the role of Shaggy for several years, due to his strict vegetarianism.
  • In 1998, Burger King teamed up with DC Comics to give away free issues of their comics featuring Hanna-Barbera characters in their Burger King Kids Club.
