Bedrock was an American animated sitcom television series being developed by Warner Bros. Animation, Brownstone Productions, and Fox Entertainment for Fox. It was to be the seventh Flintstones series after The Flintstones, and acts as a sequel to the latter, set 20 years into the future. It would have aired in prime-time just as the original series did.
The Flintstones and their town of Bedrock are at the dawn of a new era, as Fred is on the brink of retirement and his 20-something daughter, Pebbles, is ready to embark on her own career, at a time where civilization is transitioning from the Stone Age to the Bronze Age.
Production
Development
On July 11, 2019, an unnamed series was announced to be in early works between actress Elizabeth Banks's Brownstone Productions and Warner Bros. for primetime.[1] The name of the series and details about the plot were finally revealed on April 27, 2021, along with the writer of the pilot to be Lindsay Kerns, and Fox intending to be the broadcaster.[2]
The pilot had been officially announced to be going forward on March 10, 2023.[3]
On July 17, 2024, Fox announced that they were no longer developing Bedrock, but they may revive the project at a later date.[4]
Casting
The same day the series' name was revealed, it was also announced that Elizabeth Banks herself was cast as an adult Pebbles.[2]
In an interview with Variety on September 7, 2022, Fox Entertainment's President of Entertainment Michael Thorn said that they were casting further characters for the presentation they're making with Warner Bros. Animation.[5]
On March 10, 2023, the full cast was revealed with the announcement of the show officially moving forward at FOX.[3]
