Sinbad Jr. and his Magic Belt, also known as Sinbad Jr., is an animated American television series produced by Hanna-Barbera Productions. Airing in syndication, it ran from 1965 to 1966, airing 35 episodes that spanned one season.

Sinbad Jr., alongside his companion Salty, sail the seas across the globe, but more often than not, they would run into a do-badder with malicious intentions. When the time comes, Sinbad pulls his "magic belt" tight to grant himself immense strength, putting the bad guy into a real pickle. Later episodes would feature regular villains such as Blubbo (a parody-like version of Popeye's Bluto), Rotcodam (spelt Mad Doctor backwards) and Goots (Rotcodam's henchman).

The series was later acquired by MGM's subsidiary, Orion Pictures, who currently holds rights to the series.

Production

Development

Sinbad was originally voiced by Dal McKennon, but with American International Pictures having released the film, The Magic Voyage of Sinbad, and having held the rights to any Sinbad trademark for screen works during the time, their television company had eventually came into an agreement that the reminder of the series would be produced under Hanna-Barbera for syndication television run, and Tim Matheson would replace McKennon as the star role.

Music

The music was composed by Hoyt Curtin.
