Biography
One night, the Waynes left the theater after having watched Robin Hood, and at the suggestion of his father, they took a shortcut into Crime Alley, which scared Bruce. after it started to rain. Bruce had a right to be scared, as they immediately bumped into Joe who wanted Martha's purse, but as Thomas struggled with Joe, the latter shot the pair of them dead.
Soon after, Bruce and his butler, Alfred Pennyworth, attend the burial service of Bruce's parents. Bruce then spends years training his body and mind to their physical peaks, to fight off the crime in his city.
Behind the scenes
- In the storyboards, they are simply called Mr. and Mrs. Wayne.
- The deaths of Batman's parents in "The Fear" was the first time their deaths had been depicted outside of what DC Comics had published. Of course, you didn't actually see them get shot, as the camera moved away from that scene, but given how Super Friends began, it was a major step forward in growth from its squeaky clean image.
