Gloria Glad is a main character in the Richie Rich animated television series. She is voiced by Nancy Cartwright.

Character description

She is the girlfriend of Richie Rich, and frequently accompanies Richie and Dollar on their quests to help foil robberies and fight master criminals. In some segments, she is kidnapped and held hostage by the villain featured in that segment, but in these instances Richie comes to rescue her - sometimes getting abducted in the process, whether due to Dollar's mishaps or a mishap on Richie's part.

In the comic book series, she is depicted to be about seven years old, wearing a ribbon in her hair, and her red hair being longer, and wore a dress with a miniskirt supposedly made of tartan cloth, and white socks with black Mary Jane shoes. But in this cartoon version, she is depicted to be a pre-teen, between 10 and 12 years old, and had shorter but thick hair, and wore a pink sweater vest with white shirt (pink sweater with sleeves starting in Season 2 in most of the Gems segments and two Zillion Dollar Adventures segments), and reddish purple mini skirt with pink flat shoes. When swimming or lounging on a pool deck, she typically wears a pink frilly swimsuit with straps (though on a Season 3 Richie Rich Gems segment about the discovery of a giant black pearl, she wore a strapless bikini of a darker color, just like in the comic book version).

Behind the scenes

  • In the Season 2 Zillion Dollar Adventures segment "Voodoo Island", Gloria said she couldn't swim. Contrary to what she said, she did swim on two Season 1 segments: "One of Our Aircraft Carriers is Missing" and "Young Irona".
  • This was the first cartoon voice role of Nancy Cartwright's career. Gloria's voice sounds very close to that of Bart Simpson, whom Cartwright voices to this day.
