Casper the Friendly Ghost is an American animated supernatural comedy television series produced by Hanna-Barbera and Harvey Comics for NBC. It aired in 1979, only lasting two episodes or specials. It was based on the Harvey Comics series of the same name.
The specials aired in during and after the unrelated Casper and the Angels TV series, which was set in the future, while the specials were set in the present.

Both specials were released on VHS by Turner Home Entertainment in 1995.
On July 31, the Warner Archive Collection released Casper's First Christmas on DVD first, in a collection with other Hanna-Barbera Christmas-themed specials called Hanna-Barbera Christmas Classics Collection. On October 1, 2013, the Warner Archive Collection released Casper's Halloween Special on DVD as Casper's Halloween.
