Harvey Comics was an American comic book publisher known for their library of children's comics characters, notably Casper the Friendly Ghost and Richie Rich. They were founded by Alfred Harvey in 1941, after buying out the small publisher Brookwood Publications.
Casper and Richie were adapted into animated television series by Hanna-Barbera during the early 1980s, as Casper and the Angels and Richie Rich, respectively.
History
Harvey acquired the license to publish comics based on Hanna-Barbera properties, although they had only begun with strict reprints from the Charlton Comics era.
In 1993, Harvey published a three-page preview of new material in an All-New Comics one-shot. However, due to financial problems, Harvey lost their publishing rights to all Hanna-Barbera titles. Hanna-Barbera sold the rights with the unreleased material to Archie Comics, who began publishing in 1995.

Behind the scenes
- Harvey acquired the rights to Casper the Friendly Ghost in 1959 from Paramount Pictures, who distributed the Casper series of theatrical cartoons by Famous Studios up until the acquisition. Harvey maintained the rights to Casper and other cartoons by Famous under The Harvey Entertainment Company until 2001, of which a majority of its assets were purchased by Classic Media (now Dreamworks Classics under NBCUniversal).
