"The Snorkasaurus Hunter" is the eighteenth episode of The Flintstones season one. It aired on January 27, 1961 on ABC. It was written by Warren Foster and Michael Maltese, and produced and directed by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera, the creators of the series and the founders of Hanna-Barbera Productions.

While vacationing in the mountains, Fred & Barney spot and try to outsmart and capture a wild Snorkasaurus, who's anything but stupid. He's also Dino. It's best not to think about that.

Development

Despite already appearing for two episodes as a regular dog, Dino is suddenly given an "origin", one which doesn't even fit. He now has a full range of vocabulary and talks in the same mannerisms as comedian and actor Phil Silvers. In his next appearance, he reverts back to his previous self and the Phil Silvers Dino is never referred back to.
