Robert Edward Turner III (born November 19, 1938) is an American entrepreneur, television producer, media proprietor and philanthropist known for being the founder of the cable TV channels TNT, TBS, and CNN. His multimedia entertainment company, Turner Entertainment, bought MGM's film pre-1986 library in that year (consisting of their theatrical cartoons like Tom and Jerry), and Hanna-Barbera in 1991, which in turn eventually led to Turner launching Cartoon Network in 1992.

Turner's controversial statements in his career, coupled with his business decisions, garnered him nicknames such as "The Mouth of the South" and "Captain Outrageous". Turner has also devoted his assets to environmental causes, and was the creator of the environmental-themed television series Captain Planet and the Planeteers.
