"I, Robot" is the second episode of Sealab 2021 season one. It was previewed on December 30, 2000 on Cartoon Network, before a formal airing on October 7, 2001 on the launch of their late-night programming block, Adult Swim. It was written by John J. Miller and series creators, Adam Reed and Matt Thompson, who also produced and directed.

The episode title is a reference to Isaac Asimov's I, Robot short stories and essays between 1940 and 1950.
Captain Murphy wants to be an "Adrienne Barbeaubot," in tribute to the actress Adrienne Barbeau.
The transition music from Super Friends plays from when Quinn saves the day to telling the others about it.
A gag credit is crediting Mike Lazzo as Martin Lazlo.
