"Fred's New Boss" is the second episode of The Flintstones season three, and the sixty-second overall. It aired on September 21, 1962 on ABC. It was written by Warren Foster, and produced and directed by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera, the creators of the series and the founders of Hanna-Barbera Productions.

Barney tries to get a new job in the quarry with the help of his pal Fred, but this leads to him quickly becoming the boss of Mr. Slate's company.

Behind the scenes

  • This is the last of two episodes of season 3 that used the original "Rise and Shine" intro from the show's first two seasons. From the episode "Barney the Invisible" onward, the "(Meet) The Flintstones" song would take its place for the show's new intro.
  • At the start of the episode, Betty and Wilma watch The Yogi Bear Show on the latter's TV set, referred to here as "The Yogi Cave Bear Show".
