RE: Hey there!

I just realised you said to go to you talk page, although I did respond on my own talk page, I thought it'd be easier that way instead of going back and forth between other's talk pages. -- MisterJames (talk) 22:28, 13 April 2020 (UTC)

I was wondering if you could help out with the site's logo? I have this as a possibility. -- MisterJames (talk) 01:56, 14 April 2020 (UTC)

As in design? I can maybe do that, seems easy enough with that example. Using that image itself as the logo would not look too good. Alex95 (talk) 02:08, 14 April 2020 (UTC)
You're totally right, just the design. I asked someone what they thought this site's logo should look like and they sent me that (hopefully they'll join soon enough). Thanks. -- MisterJames (talk) 02:19, 14 April 2020 (UTC)
Yeah, I can probably put something together when I can. I have another wiki to install now that I'm done with this one, but I'll get to the logo once I'm able if no one else gives you something by then. Alex95 (talk) 02:24, 14 April 2020 (UTC)

Thanks. A friend just signed up, but didn't need to be approved or anything. Neither did I really, but I did need to be approved of crat rights. My main issue is that I really would like it to made that anybody would need to be properly approved by me or someone else in charge, that way the site will be better maintained, with people who I can trust and who could contribute worthy stuff, otherwise I'm not going to be able to be here in peace if it's just basically easy for anyone to find this site and be able to edit just by confirming their email. -- MisterJames (talk) 12:17, 14 April 2020 (UTC)

The display title doesn't work properly. If I want to use quote marks, that doesn't work (I decided to give up on that as a result), but using italic marks in Scooby-Doo (film) failed as well. -- MisterJames (talk) 09:09, 17 April 2020 (UTC)

The DISPLAYTITLE call has to have the full title of the article in the code, otherwise it won't know the full extent of what to change. You were just missing "(film)", I corrected it. Alex95 (talk) 14:44, 17 April 2020 (UTC)
I considered that, but what if what I wanted it without the "(film)" part? -- MisterJames (talk) 15:35, 17 April 2020 (UTC)
Personally, I'd rather that not happen, the displayed title should be what the name of the article actually is.
MarioWiki uses a template called Italic title that can display something different, if you'd want to copy that. Alex95 (talk) 17:03, 17 April 2020 (UTC)

I have a logo for the site, I just don't know where to go. -- MisterJames (talk) 20:24, 20 April 2020 (UTC)

You can upload it directly to the wiki, and I can use the URL to make the logo appear in the corner :) Alex95 (talk) 20:36, 20 April 2020 (UTC)
If this isn't a suitable fit, then it's back to the drawing board. -- MisterJames (talk) 20:40, 20 April 2020 (UTC)
Just reupload with it resized/cropped to 135x135 and it will be fine! Alex95 (talk) 20:46, 20 April 2020 (UTC)
I asked the person who made it to resize it. Looks like you've added it anyway. -- MisterJames (talk) 22:02, 20 April 2020 (UTC)
I added this one for now, can replace later. Alex95 (talk) 22:04, 20 April 2020 (UTC)
I've uploaded the correct size. -- MisterJames (talk) 08:53, 21 April 2020 (UTC)
Awesome, looks good! Alex95 (talk) 14:08, 21 April 2020 (UTC)

Home page

I've been thinking of how it could look, and I was thinking of having these circular portals to each decade of Hanna-Barbera (including the pre-HB when Barbara and Hanna directed Tom and Jerry, which was suggested to me), which would be from the 1940s to today (even though HB officially ceased in 2001). I'm hoping the portals would have an image of best represents that decade with a few characters of the time, that would lead to a decade page of the reader's choosing. -- MisterJames (talk) 23:30, 14 April 2020 (UTC)

Sounds interesting. You could photoshop the characters into an image, and use [[File:name.png|link=Page name]]. Alex95 (talk) 00:15, 15 April 2020 (UTC)

Video

I want to add a trailer directly to SCOOB! Is this possible and if so, how can I do it? -- MisterJames (talk) 17:12, 3 May 2020 (UTC)

A widget extension needs to be installed, so you can do something like {{#widget:YouTube|id=yA-oD5hen4I}}. This will display a video wherever you put it (this example is the opening movie of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate). I will upload the extension within an hour. Alex95 (talk) 17:52, 3 May 2020 (UTC)

{{#widget:YouTube|id=yA-oD5hen4I}}

Extension has been installed. For YouTube, all you need is the video identification string from the url. If you would like other widgets installed, feel free to let me know or take a look at a list of widgets and see what you can do. Alex95 (talk) 18:51, 3 May 2020 (UTC)

Okay. Thanks for the help. -- MisterJames (talk) 22:49, 3 May 2020 (UTC)

Is it possible to also do this for Dailymotion? Because there's some trailers I'm only finding there. -- Signed by James (talk) 13:46, 22 February 2022 (UTC)

Legend box

(I don't know why they call it that)

I was getting help from Results May Vary, but I don't know where he's gone, so I was wondering if you could officially set this up for me? https://hanna-barberawiki.com/wiki/User_talk:MisterJames#Re:_Color_guide -- MisterJames (talk) 21:55, 3 July 2020 (UTC)

RMV's been having a bit of trouble lately, but I'll take a look at that and see what I can do. Alex95 (talk) 00:49, 4 July 2020 (UTC)

New users creating pages

I have a friend who just joined, but can't create new pages. I feel stupid for asking this, but how can they do this? -- MisterJames (talk) 21:23, 4 September 2020 (UTC)

There is an autoconfirm limit that will allow users to make new pages after they've had an account for seven days and have made ten edits. This is a security measure to counter spam and vandalism, but it looks like you have no problem with that at all. If you'd like me to lower or remove the restriction, I can do so. Alex95 (talk) 21:27, 4 September 2020 (UTC)
I'd like this new user Snoopy to be able to get going as soon as they can, so if you can remove the restriction for now, that would be great, thanks. The restriction is probably best for when the site has more activity. Promoting it on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram hasn't really changed anything. -- MisterJames (talk) 22:13, 4 September 2020 (UTC)
Restrictions have been removed, let me know if there are any issues :) Alex95 (talk) 22:28, 4 September 2020 (UTC)

Would it be okay if you could put those restrictions back on? Over the last month I've seen a couple of new users come on, people who I've never heard of before, and I'd feel safer if the restrictions were put back up. Thank you. -- MisterJames (talk) 00:17, 8 April 2021 (UTC)

Change applied. New users can no longer create or move pages. The autoconfirm limit is seven days and ten edits. Alex95 (talk) 13:59, 8 April 2021 (UTC)

Upload block

I'm trying to upload an image from my Harvey Birdman DVD today no differently than what I've been doing for the past few months, yet now I'm getting this message: "This file is bigger than the server is configured to allow." I don't know what's going on here. -- MisterJames (talk) 18:16, 9 October 2020 (UTC)

I will raise the upload limit in a moment then. :) 2MB is way too low. Alex95 (talk) 18:29, 9 October 2020 (UTC)
Done. Alex95 (talk) 18:38, 9 October 2020 (UTC)
Thank-you! -- MisterJames (talk) 19:31, 9 October 2020 (UTC)

I'm having another problem now in that when I try to upload an image from a movie I had no problems with a day or so before, I'm now getting a warning message saying the request entity is far too large. -- Signed by James (talk) 14:30, 30 January 2022 (UTC)

I guess 64 MB is now too large, because it's giving me the same message from another movie screenshot that was taken from YouTube (because I thought maybe the problem could've been that I was taking screenshots of the first movie from Leawo). -- Signed by James (talk) 15:19, 30 January 2022 (UTC)
It's working now. -- Signed by James (talk) 21:27, 30 January 2022 (UTC)

MCU wiki

I talked to Results May Vary about having a Marvel Cinematic Universe Wiki a few months ago, and he said that you didn't have one and that he'd make a back up of mine on Fandom just in case. And that was that. Well, I have recently asked him about it, but I haven't got any response back about it. -- MisterJames (talk) 11:49, 18 January 2021 (UTC)

He's right, we don't have one. RMV kind of stepped away from things for now. We're not taking any proper new wiki requests at the moment, due to trying to get a new server working (so far, it's looking promising), but I will keep this in mind. :) Alex95 (talk) 15:55, 18 January 2021 (UTC)

File box

Would you be able to help me in making a details box for images we upload? I'd like it to have rows that include the source (as in which episode, movie, etc.) and a description. -- MisterJames (talk) 10:55, 23 February 2021 (UTC)

The page you are looking for is MediaWiki:Upload-default-description. Whatever you put there will be automatically displayed in the text window when uploading. Alex95 (talk) 17:56, 23 February 2021 (UTC)
Do you have an example of this in use on another wiki? -- MisterJames (talk) 19:09, 23 February 2021 (UTC)
Here are examples on the Super Mario Wiki and my own Power Master Wiki. Alex95 (talk) 20:12, 23 February 2021 (UTC)
Thanks, I'll try that. -- MisterJames (talk) 20:25, 23 February 2021 (UTC)

Batch Upload

I want to be able to take the images (or at least a certain amount) from my Flintstones wiki to this site, and it's going to get quite tedious doing it manually. I asked Results May Vary about it, and he suggested going to you about Special:BatchUpload. https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:SimpleBatchUpload -- MisterJames (talk) 19:18, 10 April 2021 (UTC)

I installed https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:MsUpload instead, as SimpleBatchUpload has a security issue that allows people, including IPs, to upload images without restrictions. Feel free to give that a look. Alex95 (talk) 03:09, 11 April 2021 (UTC)
I downloaded the MsUpload, but then I removed it, but the changes to the edit pages haven't gone away. -- MisterJames (talk) 17:03, 11 April 2021 (UTC)
I'm afraid I don't know what you mean, I'm not seeing anything off. Might've been a cache issue?
Also, I noticed you copied the template from my Power Master Wiki directly for our previous discussion above. That wasn't what I was expecting you to do, I meant for you to use it as an example. You can leave it for now, but I would like for permission to be granted first before it continues, especially since our wiki licenses are not the same. Alex95 (talk) 04:49, 12 April 2021 (UTC)
I added this photo to show you what I mean. It has this new "Drop files here" section that won't go away. Also, I'm sorry I was breaking a rule, although I'm not entirely sure what you're talking about. Do you mean the file description/source box? I didn't figure that would be a problem. I'm sorry. -- MisterJames (talk) 14:59, 12 April 2021 (UTC)
Of course I realise now that I took something unique from your wiki, so I'm sorry about that. I should've asked beforehand. It's just I would never have been able to make one for myself. -- MisterJames (talk) 15:02, 12 April 2021 (UTC)
As far as I know, there's no way to disable or hide that upload box, since that's what the extension is meant to do. Alex95 (talk) 16:19, 12 April 2021 (UTC)

I am a little stumped

James mentioned that you were a guy who know his way around wiki and I would really need some help with mine. How do I install Visual Editor using the mediawiki page? It's hard for me to understand the instructions it's giving me and it's the only thing I need to begin editing articles on my wiki. --SonicExeP (talk) 22:24, 16 June 2022 (UTC)

Continuing from the above, how is it that infobox is automatically going to the right on this wiki, but on SonicEXeP's Looney Tunes Wiki, it isn't doing the same? -- Signed by James (talk) 08:57, 23 June 2022 (UTC)
