Space: 1999 is a British live-action science fiction television series created by Gerry and Sylvia Anderson. It was produced by Group Three Productions for its first year, and then Gerry Anderson Productions for its second, for ITV's prime-time programming. It ran from 1975 to 1977, airing 48 episodes that spanned two seasons. It was funded by ITC Entertainment for its entirety, with support from Italian broadcaster RAI for the first season. In selling to the American syndicated market, it was bought by Worldvision Enterprises and marketed through Hanna-Barbera Enterprises, which also included merchandise, although their involvement seems to be on the hush-hush.
