Nessie Come Home is an undeveloped film produced by Hanna-Barbera Productions in the 1980s, involving the safety of the Loch Ness Monster at risk. It's unclear how far in production the film was as its completion was only if Heidi's Song was the guaranteed success that Hanna-Barbera had hoped for.

Production

Development

When Hanna-Barbera promoted Heidi's Song in an interview with Millimeter magazine in 1981, the studio fully expected it to be a rousing success and begin a "renaissance" of further animated theatrical features, having already started Nessie Come Home and Rock Odyssey.[1] Heidi's Song was released the next year and did not receive the box office welcome that Hanna-Barbera had hoped for, promptly canceling plans for Nessie Come Home without hesitation, although Rock Odyssey did get made after years of languishing in development hell, and only then getting a one-time screening at the Los Angeles' International Animation Celebration in 1987.

Executive producer Joseph Barbera cautioned that he intended for Nessie Come Home to have an environmental message with a twist.
