Leonard Simon Nimoy was an American actor and director, who was famous for playing Spock in the Star Trek franchise.

Nimoy died on February 27, 2015 from end-stage chronic obstructive pulmonary disease at the age of 83.

Nimoy was a castmember in the fourth and fifth seasons of Mission: Impossible during the 1960s. He was also the voice of Galvatron in the 1986 animated film The Transformers: The Movie, and then Sentinel Prime in the 2011 live-action film Transformers: Dark of the Moon, due to him being the uncle of director Michael Bay, through marriage.

Nimoy is the subject of the 2016 documentary film For the Love of Spock, which was started by Nimoy and his son Adam a year before Nimoy's death, then continued and completed by his son.
