John Devon Roland Pertwee was an English actor, comedian, entertainer, cabaret performer and TV presenter, who voiced Spotty in the UK version of The Further Adventures of SuperTed.
Pertwee died in his sleep from a heart attack on May 20, 1996, at the age of 76.

Other roles
Pertwee became famous for playing not one but two British icons. The first one was the third incarnation of the Doctor in the BBC sci-fi series Doctor Who, from 1970 to 1974; and the title character of Worzel Gummidge on ITV from 1979 to 1981, and again on Channel 4 when they revived it as Worzel Gummidge Down Under between 1987 to 1989. The 1996 TV movie of Doctor Who was dedicated to him.
