Bill & Ted's Excellent Cereal was a breakfast cereal made of cinnamon oats and marshmallow notes, which was manufactured by Ralston Purina and sold in retail stores between 1990-1991, then in warehouse-style discount stores for a short time afterward. It was a marketing tie-in for the Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventures cartoon produced by Hanna-Barbera. Free gifts were also inserted either on the inside or awkwardly on the outside of the box, including tape totes, historical hysterical postcards, phone booth directory list, historical luggage tags, and the never commercially released pencil toppers. Prizes were also offered, along with a college scholarship program, which also never made it to stores along with the pencil toppers, and it was probably as reliable.

A cartoon commercial was televised in 1991 to promote it, where Bill S. Preston, Esquire and Ted "Theodore" Logan travel to the land of Camelot to share their cereal with the Knights of the Round Table. Neither Alex Winter nor Keanu Reeves reprised their roles.

In popular culture

  • Perhaps surprisingly, Winter, who played Bill, had high praise for the cereal on The Arsenio Hall Show in 1991. Although an audience member who Arsenio Hall picked to eat while Hall and Winter continued to chat wasn't so enthusiastic about the taste. At the end of the episode, Hall also got other audience members to eat the cereal.
