John Richard Schneider is an American actor and singer, who is best known for playing Sheriff Rosco P. Coltrane in The Dukes of Hazzard TV series on CBS from 1979 to 1985 when it ended. He reprised the role in cartoon form when Hanna-Barbera produced The Dukes spin-off during the parent show's run. He is also known for playing Jonathan Kent in The WB's Smallville TV series, based on the formation of Clark Kent's teenage years before he became Superman. The role was much younger than previous incarnations of Jonathan.
