In the middle of the night, while Blue Scarab creator, Jerry Sloane, is working in his studio apartment, the Blue Scarab miraculously has come to live and breaks into Jerry's apartment from the rooftop, threatening Jerry's life, if he continues to draw more comics about him.

Meanwhile at a malt shop, Shaggy is excitedly reading out loud a comic of the superhero Blue Scarab to Scooby and Scrappy. Velma, Daphne, and Fred are at a separate table, where Velma reads about Jerry's haunting (which just happened moments ago). Shaggy guesses correctly that Fred wants to investigate. At Jerry's apartment, they find it hard to believe, but Jerry tells them that it really happened.
