Jewel Franklin Guy, known professionally as James Best, was an American television, film, stage, and voice actor. He is best known for playing Sheriff Rosco P. Coltrane in The Dukes of Hazzard TV series on CBS from 1979 to 1985 when it ended. He reprised the role in cartoon form when Hanna-Barbera produced The Dukes spin-off during the parent show's run.

Best died on April 6, 2015 from complications of pneumonia at the age of 88.
