Tom Cruise was astonishingly the voice of Captain Planet of Captain Planet and the Planeteers, until he was replaced with David Coburn, as Cruise took the role as a "macho superhero".[1]

When Captain Planet was first announced, Cruise personally called DIC Entertainment's talent department for the role.[2] He was already a household name back then having starred in Top Gun.
