At Comic Convention, Scooby-Doo, Shaggy, and Scrappy-Doo were hired by Mr. Bigsby to guard his very rare comic book, The Adventures of Slime Boy #1. The convention's manager, Mr. Morely gave them strict orders not to leave the convention until midnight which the trio agreed.
One hour of guarding passed, and they encountered Slime Boy from a cardboard cutout. The monster stole the comic and imprisoned the gang with the glass case. After Shaggy and Scoob easily lifted it and Scrappy went after him with vigor. After the duo's brief hesitation, they followed the pup.
When they caught up with him, Shaggy unmasked the wrong Slime Boy revealing an elderly woman who chased them away. Scrappy found him going to the elevator and concocted a plan to snag the comic from Slime Boy. The three ran ran up to the mezzanine.
Their plan might work since Slime Boy is having trouble with the elevator. Scooby-Doo was then being lowered by Shaggy through a harness. After a brief brawl, Shaggy pulled up the harness assuming the Great Dane successfully snatched the comic, but it was Slime Boy who won that strife and grasping the harness line. Shaggy then dropped it down with the beast. The monster stood up and pushed the elevator button to open its door, unveiling that Scooby-Doo was restrained by ropes. Shaggy lowered a different rope for Scooby-Doo to grab on which he did by using his jaw. As the dog hopped to freedom and pulled up while Slime Boy tried to grab him. In a quick session, he was lowered down; swiped the comic by his tail; and then pulled up again with Slime Boy attempting to grab him again. After Shaggy carefully holding Scooby to get over the floor, Scrappy-Doo noticed Slime Boy had climbed the wall with suction cups. Scrappy-Doo and Shaggy escaped first then Scooby-Doo broke free from his bonds and gone after them while Slime Boy climbed over to the mezzanine floor.
The three fled from the mezzanine floor to the comic exhibit. Slime Boy reached the area and found them on the last big panel. The beast scrunched it up and stuffed it into the trash can. It managed to grab the comic and fled. The trio followed its path and footprints by hopping with the can and by foot. When they reached the janitor's closet and Shaggy tricked Scoob with the rigged coin toss. The dog opened the door and encountered Slime Boy. He beats it up for being its short timed prisoner and stuffed into the trash can. However, it turns out that Slime Boy was an empty costume. All hope was not lost because Scoob spotted a button and Shaggy figured out that it belonged to the thief. They chose to wear Rocky the Wonderhorse and a cowboy to check for other convention visitors' buttons.
While doing so, they met up with Mr. Morley. The pup relayed on what they were doing. Suddenly, he noticed the clue button and Mr. Morley's were the same type. In response, the thief fled to the exact stairs near that elevator. Shaggy and Scooby ran outside to patrol what exit Mr. Morley used while Scrappy chased after him.
Scrappy managed to trap Mr. Morley, but he jumped out of the window. The pup checked on him and went to the phone to call the local police to inform their progressing scenario. While doing so, the culprit landed onto Shaggy and Scooby and they sped their way to the police station. After the pup's call, he raced toward the police station with the duo disposed Mr. Morley to the chief's desk. Once their job is done and a new reader for The Adventures of Slime Boy added in, they cantered through the night.
