Development

Scrappy-Doo was in the original draft, but was removed when the story evolved into something different not allowing writer, Jon Colton Barry, to service him enough.[1]

Storyboard artist Becks Wallace had the showdown placed at the forest, where Velma and Daphne would rise from the stack of leaves, but this was changed to the middle of the street.[2]

Filming

It was copyrighted in 2016.

Music

The theme song, "Old Stomping Grounds," was written and performed by Adam Levin, James Bairian, and Louis Castle. The rest of the music was composed by Jake Monaco.

Behind the scenes

  • In America, this was the first episode to air from the second season.
  • Fred's cousin Scott would grow up to become the captain of the S.S. Casey as previously shown in "All Paws on Deck."
  • The neighborhood in the opening is based on the one from storyboard artist Becks Wallace's childhood; the guy who gives young Fred candy is also a caricature of her late father.[2]
  • In the flashback with the kid dressed as Abraham Lincoln, Shaggy is dressed as the ghost of Mr. Hyde from the Scooby-Doo, Where Are You! episode "Nowhere to Hyde," while Daphne and Velma are dressed as Hex Girls members Thorn and Dusk, respectively.
  • In another flashback Scooby and Velma are dressed in their renaissance costumes from "Renn Scare." Although Scooby has a knight's helmet on, which he didn't originally have in the latter.
  • In the present, kids are dressed as past villains, such as the Zatari warrior from "Game of Chicken," and the ghost of Elias Kingston from "Mystery 101."
  • A special thanks is given to Joe Ruby and Ken Spears, who had nothing to do with this episode, but did create the original series, Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!
