The Flintstone Comedy Show is an American animated comedy television series produced by Hanna-Barbera for NBC. It ran from 1980 to 1981, airing 18 episodes that spanned two seasons. It is a spin-off of The Flintstones, and the fifth incarnation of the Flintstones franchise. In Europe, it was renamed Flintstone Frolics.
The series consisted of six segments: a regular type of story of the Flintstones and Rubbles in The Flintstone Family Adventures; Fred and Barney join the police force in Bedrock Cops; best friends Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm, with pet Dino, investigate haunted places in Bedrock in Pebbles, Dino and Bamm-Bamm; in Captain Caveman, Wilma and Betty become reporters at The Daily Granite, where prehistoric superhero, Captain Caveman, secretly works as an office boy; and finally the monster family, the Frankenstones, get their own show in The Frankenstones.
The designs of Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm depicts them as younger-looking (while their friends are kept the same), making the series look like it was set before The Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm Show.
Shmoo, who was the title character of The New Shmoo, appears in the series, most notably as a costar in Bedrock Cops. The New Shmoo was, however, set in the present.
Captain Caveman was the star of the TV series Captain Caveman and the Teen Angels, with the aforementioned Captain Caveman segments retconning the character as having been a citizen of Bedrock all along. He also appears in Flintstones prequel series, The Flintstone Kids.
