Partridge Family 2200 A.D. is an American animated sci-fi/musical comedy TV series produced by Hanna-Barbera (H-B) for CBS's Saturday morning children's programming. It ran in 1974, airing 16 episodes that spanned one season. Each episode was directed by Charles A. Nichols.

It is a spin-off to the live-action sitcom The Partridge Family, which aired on ABC from 1970 to 1974. Instead of being a straightforward adaptation, the premise has been changed to now having The Partridge Family living regularly in the 22nd century, where they have become the galaxy's favorite musical entertainers. Three of the kid actors reprise their roles for the cartoon.

Production

Development

When CBS rejected Hanna-Barbera's pitch of a sequel to The Jetsons (with Judy and Elroy now an adult and teen, respectively), they got Hanna-Barbera to modify it for a series with the Partridge family, instead. There's no originality and it makes no sense whatsoever, but there you go. This was the second time the kids from The Partridge Family appeared in a Hanna-Barbera series, with the first being the year before in Goober and the Ghost Chasers, although that was set in the then present.

Music

The music was composed by Hoyt Curtin, who was credited as musical director, with musical supervision from Paul DeKorte.
