Behind the scenes

  • When Lillard played Shaggy in the first Scooby-Doo film, he would have to scream every morning for five minutes, just to get the scratchy voice needed for the role.[1]
  • Lillard played a fictionalized version of himself in the film Looney Tunes: Back in Action, where he has a lunch meeting with the original cartoon versions of Scooby and Shaggy, who berate him for his live-action portrayal of Shaggy.
  • In the Drop the Mic episode "Hanson vs. Sam Richardson & Shaggy vs. Matthew Lillard," Lillard won a rap spar against Shaggy. During one of his raps, he questions why he's called Shaggy when he looks like Scooby (making his Shaggy voice when saying Scooby), to which Shaggy replies, "Really?" in Scooby's voice.
