Mystery Inc. has gone to Sicily to investigate the legend of the Fire Monster, which lo and behold is real and chasing actor Steve Buscemi, who's nothing like his dangerous characters.

Detailed summary

Memorable quotes

Fred: Hold the phone!
Mystery Inc.: It's famous actor, writer, director, producer, Steve Buscemi!

Nana: This is my favorite photo of my Steve. It's from his movie Nice Guys of Baltimore. He played such a good boy!
Daphne: I don't remember that movie, and I thought I'd seen all your films!
Steve: Yeah, that one, um, didn't do so well at the box office. I think maybe I was too nice. Is that a thing? Too nice?
Fred: Gosh, don't look at me, Mr. Buscemi. There's no such thing as too nice in my phonebook. You know what I'm saying?
Steve: Uh, no, Fred, I'm sorry, I really don't.

Nana: And I would never have gotten away with it, too, if it weren't for you meddling kids.
Velma: Um...You're welcome.

Release

Dates are in order of release:

Behind the scenes

  • With every episode's title card, one of the gang announces the guest star, which is Shaggy this time.
  • Fred says "Hold the phone" once.
  • Velma says "Jinkies" once.
  • Daphne says "Jeepers" once.
  • Shaggy says "Zoinks" once.
  • Daphne reveals she's seen all of Steve Buscemi movies, so apparently even the R-rated ones that the intended target audience that is watching this episode (hopefully) wouldn't have watched themselves?

Errors

  • In the credits, there's a comma following Scooby-Doo, but there is no other role included after him.
  • Grey Griffin and Matthew Lillard are credited for voicing a photojournalist and a parking attendant, respectively. Only, when exactly do they appear?
