The 1940s is the decade William Hanna and Joseph Barbera first collaborated on an animated project, but before they founded Hanna-Barbera.

All of their work was directing the Tom and Jerry theatrical shorts done at MGM Cartoons. This list also includes the Droopy theatrical shorts also done at MGM Cartoons, which Hanna and Barbera would be attached to as producers in the 1950s.
